PALM DESERT, California (Friday, March 4, 2016) – Police responded to reports that a vehicle had struck two pedestrians near Monterey Avenue and Haun Road, resulting in a fatality. Sergeant David Wright of the Palm Desert Police stated that the elder victim, a 29 year-old male, was treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries. A 10 year-old male died of his wounds a little over an hour later, according to the Riverside Sheriff’s office.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with police throughout. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the tragic accident.
The incident took place yesterday afternoon at about 12:17 p.m., according to an incident report by the California Highway Patrol, Indio. The Riverside County Fire Department also responded to the situation.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner, the child was identified as Bobby Adams. He died at 1:39 p.m., at Eisenhower Medical Center.
