PALM SPRINGS, California (March 14, 2016) — Douglas Decker, 71, of Cathedral City has been identified as the man killed in a pedestrian accident Firday night at Calle El Segundo and Arenas Road, according to a report by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The crash was reported at 8:18 p.m. when the victim was struck by a vehicle and critically injured. Paramedics responded and transported the injured man to Desert Regional Medical Center where he later died of major head injuries at10:35 p.m. the same night. The driver who struck Decker was heading southbound on Calle El Segundo when they hit the man who was walking eastbound on Arenas Road.
An investigation into the crash is underway to determine liability. Typically a police report will provide details about what led to the crash based on evidence at the scene, interviews with those involved and witnesses as well as measurements taken. This report make take weeks or longer, depending on the circumstances.
