
Pedestrian Critically Injured in Palm Springs DUI Crash at Tahquitz Canyon and Sunrise
PALM SPRINGS, CA (February 2, 2023) – A DUI crash critically injured a pedestrian at Tahquitz Canyon Way and Sunrise Way in Palm Springs.
According to an article published by The Desert Sun, the accident took place on Wednesday night. Officers reported the collision on February 1 at around 8:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a vehicle struck a female pedestrian for an unknown reason in a Palm Springs crosswalk. Police said she was hit at the intersection of Tahquitz Canyon Way and Sunrise Way.
Woman, 57, Hit by Drunk Driver
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the 57-year-old woman lying unresponsive on the ground. She sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident.
Medical personnel then rushed the patient to a hospital and listed her in critical condition. The report did not disclose the name of the wounded victim.
Meanwhile, police determined that the male driver was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the woman. They soon arrested him for DUI.
Officers forced the area of Tahquitz Canyon and Sunrise to shut down following the pedestrian collision. The cause of the Palm Springs DUI crash is still under investigation.
