1 Killed, 2 Injured in Palm Springs Crash on Highway 111 Near Gateway Drive
PALM SPRINGS, CA (July 3, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and injured two others on Highway 111 near Gateway Drive in Palm Springs.
According to The Desert Sun and KESQ News, the tragic accident took place early Sunday. Officers reported the wreck shortly before 1:30 a.m.

The incident began when a vehicle was a traveling at high rate of speed on Highway 111, north of Gateway Drive, in Palm Springs.
Police said the speeding driver then slammed into the back of another car. The second vehicle obtained major damage to its rear section due to the impact of the collision.
Drunk Speeding Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced a 56-year-old man riding as a passenger in the rear-ended car dead at the scene.
The 55-year-old woman driving the victim vehicle and the speeding motorist sustained minor injuries as a result of the wreck. Paramedics rushed them to a hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police determined that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the other car.
They soon arrested him for DUI. Officers forced a stretch of Highway 111 to shut down for a time near Gateway following the incident.
The fatal Palm Springs crash is still under investigation.
