1 Killed, 2 Seriously Injured in Palm Springs Crash at Sunrise and Palm Canyon
PALM SPRINGS, CA (July 31, 2022) – A DUI crash killed one person and seriously injured two others at Sunrise Way and Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.
According to The Desert Sun and KESQ News, the tragic accident took place on Saturday night. Officers reported the wreck at about 9:07 p.m.
The incident happened on July 30 when a vehicle was going south on Sunrise Way, approaching East Palm Canyon Drive, in Palm Springs.
Police said the car then slammed into another vehicle stopped at the intersection. The impact caused a chain reaction with two other vehicles in the intersection.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the driver of the rear-ended car dead at the scene.
A passenger in that vehicle and the motorist who hit them sustained major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed them to the hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, police determined that the suspect was under the influence when he hit the victims.
Before the incident, the 57-year-old Los Angeles man apparently caused a hit-and-run crash at Ramon Road and Sunrise Way. Records showed he had previous DUI conviction.
Officers forced the area of Sunrise and Palm Canyon to shut down for a time following the wreck. The fatal Palm Springs crash is still under investigation.
