Head-On Crash With Injuries Closes Lanes at Palm Springs Intersection

COACHELLA VALLEY, Calif. (April 20, 2026) — A head-on traffic collision involving two vehicles left at least two people injured and temporarily blocked lanes at Dillon Road and Valley View Drive on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was first reported at approximately 12:28 p.m. on April 20th, with early information indicating the two vehicles collided head-on under unclear circumstances. Callers to dispatch reported a major crash, with one person suffering chest pain and another unable to move.

A bystander at the scene assisted one of the involved parties and indicated that both victims required medical attention. At one point, an open 911 line added urgency to the response as dispatchers attempted to gather more details.

Fire crews and paramedics responded to the scene, arriving shortly after the initial reports. Authorities confirmed that at least one westbound lane and part of an eastbound lane were blocked as emergency personnel worked to assess injuries and secure the area.

By early afternoon, officials had upgraded the incident to reflect injuries, and towing services were requested to remove the damaged vehicles.

The extent of the injuries has not been disclosed, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. Motorists in the area experienced delays while crews worked to clear the roadway.
