Woman in Wheelchair, 71, Killed in Palm Springs Crash at Palm Canyon and Camino

PALM SPRINGS, CA (March 18, 2022) – A crash killed a woman in a wheelchair at Palm Canyon Drive and Camino Parocela in Palm Springs.

According to The Desert Sun and KESQ News, the tragic accident took place on Thursday evening. Officers reported the collision shortly before 7:30 p.m.

The incident happened on March 17 when a 71-year-old woman in a wheelchair was traversing a crosswalk in Palm Springs.

Police said for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck her. The car hit the victim at the intersection of South Palm Canyon Drive and Camino Parocela.

Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene. They found the person in the wheelchair who sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.

Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital, where she died. Her name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the victim. Officers forced the area of Palm Canyon and Camino Parocela to shut down for a time following the incident.
