1 Killed, 1 Injured After Car Accident Near Palmdale Boulevard Thursday
PALMDALE, Ca (November 15, 2019) – One person died and another suffered injuries following a traffic collision on 50th Street East near Palmdale Boulevard Thursday morning.
According to the Antelope Valley Times, three vehicles collided on 50th at about 9 a.m. on November 14.
Preliminary investigation revealed 54-year-old Desiree Lumas was behind the wheel of a 1999 Honda Accord traveling north on 50th. For reasons still unclear, Lumas allowed her vehicle to veer into the southbound lanes. Subsequently, the Accord crashed into a 2004 Chevy Silverado with utility trailer. The Accord reportedly continued northbound in the southbound lane and crashed again into a 2017 BYD Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) bus.
Responding paramedics sadly pronounced Lumas dead at the scene.
Bus Driver Injured in Wrong-Way Crash in Palmdale, November 14
Officials added a land ambulance transported the AVTA bus driver to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Meanwhile, the occupants in the Chevy appeared unharmed after the incident.
Detectives handling the case continue to work at this time to determine exactly what caused the Accord to veer into the wrong lane.
