Panfilo Garnica Vega, 78, Hit by Car at Fourth Street and Third Avenue

GUSTINE (September 18, 2017) – An elderly pedestrian was killed in a traffic collision near Fourth Street and Third Avenue on Friday, September 15, according to Merced Sun-Star.

Merced County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 78-year-old Panfilo Garnica Vega, of Gustine.

As per the article, California Highway Patrol said Garnica Vega was walking in the area when he was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet. The collision took place at about 8 p.m.

Gustine Pedestrian Accident

Garnica Vega was transported to Memorial Hospital Los Banos where he died.

CHP affirmed that 40-year-old Gustine resident Keri Lynn Ross was driving the Chevrolet north on Fourth Street when the car struck the man crossing the street.

Ross reportedly stopped and cooperated with the authorities. The incident remains under investigation.
