Man Killed in Panorama City Hit-and-Run Crash on Parthenia Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (July 12, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed a man on Parthenia Street in the Panorama City neighborhood.
According to the KTLA News and NBC Los Angeles, the tragic accident took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the collision at about 10:25 a.m.
The incident happened on July 10 when the man was trying to lift a manhole cover along Parthenia Street in Panorama City. A vehicle approached and then drove over the lid.
Driver Runs Over Manhole Cover
Police said the manhole cover ended up pushed down on top of the pedestrian. The man in his 20s fell back down the manhole in the process.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and confirmed that the victim died as a result of the collision. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop and continued west on Parthenia Street. They are still searching for the suspect. They described the car as a 2008 to 2012 white Chevrolet Silverado.
