Teenagers Hurt in Traffic Accident Near Martin Luther King Jr. Way
Merced, CA (March 12, 2023) – Injuries were reported following a bus crash that occurred on Highway 99 Thursday, March 9.
The ABC30 and Your Central Valley News reported a party bus with over a dozen teenage passengers overturned off the highway in Merced. Our sources indicated the collision took place near Martin Luther King Jr. Way offramp around 2 p.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed the bus experienced a mechanical failure as it was exiting the freeway. Subsequently, the bus driver swerved to the left to avoid hitting other cars. The abrupt movement caused the party bus to roll over.
Officials mentioned approximately 16 teenagers were onboard the bus at the time of the incident. When rescue teams arrived, they immediately attended to all parties involved in the mishap. Our sources confirmed multiple passenger sustained minor injuries, and had to be taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Detectives assigned to handle the case stayed at the scene the whole afternoon. At this time, they continue to investigate the precise cause of the accident that happened on Highway 99 in Merced.
