At Least 1 Killed in Traffic Collision Near Sunset Avenue Friday
Pasadena, CA (February 19, 2022) – A 55-year-old man died following a suspected DUI car crash that occurred on Washington Place on February 18, Friday.
The Pasadena Star-News reported a 26-year-old man was behind the wheel of a green 1998 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck heading east on Washington Place. When the pickup approached the area near Sunset Avenue, it struck a parked and unoccupied vehicle on the south side of Washington Place. The accident took place at about 9:30 p.m.
When emergency crews arrived at the location, they found one passenger unconscious. Paramedics rushed the 55-year-old man to the hospital, but he later sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Authorities added another passenger, a 40-year-old Altadena resident, sustained injuries in the collision. An ambulance transported the patient to the hospital for treatment.

The driver also received medical attention after the horrible crash. Investigators later determined the 26-year-old man was drunk at the time of the collision. For this reason, police arrested the driver on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter; and felony driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
Detectives continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the deadly crash on Washington Place in Pasadena.
