STOCKTON: Fatal Car Crash Accident on 5 Freeway Near Hammer Lane
STOCKTON, California — A teen passenger died after their vehicle struck a tree on Interstate 5 freeway early Saturday morning, according to an article by Fox 40.
On March 11 at 2:47 a.m., a Chevrolet traveling towards Hammer Lane began drifting off the road, then the car got up onto the shoulder of the highway, and came to a rest after hitting a tree.
Officials learned from initial reports that the passenger side of the vehicle detached after the impact, causing the 17-year-old passenger ejected from his seat. When paramedics arrived, they pronounced the passenger dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old driver sustained major injures from the incident and he was rushed to San Joaquin General Hospital in unknown condition.
Due to coroners still working on notifying their next of kin, the names of the teenagers were not immediately available.
