Patricia Ware Killed in Gardena Hit-and-Run Crash 135th Street
Woman, 76, Identified as Victim of Hit-and-run Collision
GARDENA, Calif. (Feb. 6, 2025) – Patricia Ware, 76, died and another woman was arrested on hit-and-run charges after a Gardena crash at Van Ness Ave and 135th Street, near Rowley Park.
Meanwhile, Marian James, 29, of Los Angeles, was arrested following the collision.
The deadly crash occurred around 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2nd at the Gardena intersection, according to the Gardena Police Department.
Investigators determined that the suspect was driving her vehicle southbound on Van Ness Avenue and allegedly drove through a red traffic light at 135th Street. She crashed into the eastbound vehicle at the intersection.
Patricia Ware, who was driving the other vehicle, became unresponsive. Paramedics responded, but the victim died at the scene.
Meanwhile, Marian James fled the scene without stopping to help the other woman.
Los Angeles police deputies located the suspect in front of her home and she was arrested. She was booked at the Gardena Police Department.
