1 Dead, 1 Injured in Head-on Crash on Highway 74
LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2018) — Patrick Campos, 25, of Menifee, died when his car veered into opposing traffic on the Ortega (74) Highway Monday and crashed head-on into a Dodge Challenger.
Campos died in the head-on crash about 4:05 a.m. The 25-year-old Lake Elsinore man was driving the 2015 Honda Civic eastbound when he struck the westbound Dodge. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The 56-year-old Menifee man driving the 2018 Dodge Challenger was unable to avoid the collision. He suffered major injuries and was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar in serious but stable condition.
Police are investigating the crash and will officially determine fault.
Lake Elsinore Accident Investigation
Police are heading up an investigation into the cause of this crash and will examine the evidence at the scene, take measurements and speak to those involved. It’s unknown whether there were any criminal actions contributed to this collision or if a mechanical problem or dangerous road condition were factors.
