Pedestrian Paul Larson, 30, Killed in Goleta Crash on Highway 101
GOLETA, CA (September 2, 2022) – A pedestrian crash killed Paul Larson on Highway 101 near Turnpike Road in Goleta.
The coroner’s office identified the 30-year-old Lompoc man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Thursday.
The incident happened when Paul Douglas Larson was crossing Highway 101 from the right shoulder to the center divider in Goleta.
A big rig hauling a trailer approached and for an unknown reason, failed to stop in time. The California Highway Patrol said in the process, the semi-truck hit the man.
Man Hit by Big Rig
He was struck in the center lane near the Turnpike Road off-ramp and Patterson Avenue. The Noozhawk and KSBY News wrote that the collision occurred on September 1 at about 3 a.m.
Paul Larson died at the scene of the pedestrian accident. Meanwhile, CHP added that the driver of the big rig ended up unharmed as a result of the incident.
The motorist, 66-year-old Clearlake resident James Boylen, pulled over and called the officers. The cause of the Goleta pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
Officials forced two southbound lanes of Highway 101 to shut down for several hours following the collision. Anyone with information can call the CHP’s Santa Barbara office at 805-967-1234.
