2 Dead, 4 Injured Highway 101 Car, RV Crash
CRESCENT CITY, Calif. (Dec. 11, 2018) – Paul Peeples, 60, and his passenger Justine Rudi Castro, 29, both of McKinleyville, were treated for minor injuries after a car crashed into their Winnebago Sunday on Highway 101.
Peeples was driving his Winnebego southbound on Highway 101 near Mill Creek Campground when a driver in a Saturn veered over into opposing traffic and hit the motor home head on.
Two passengers in the Saturn, Rubi Lopez-Gonzalez, 18, and Jose Ramirez, 60, both of Crescent City, died, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the northbound Saturn, identified as Miguelina Gonzalez, 45, suffered major injuries, a juvenile passenger in the car suffered moderate injuries.
The collision took place during heavy rain near mile marker 18.99.
The CHP report indicated that all those involved were wearing their seat belts.
