Man, Woman Both Killed in Crash in Sylmar
SYLMAR, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2023) – Paul Sanchez, 38, is one of two people killed in a Sylmar pedestrian accident at Astoria Street and Foothill Boulevard.
A driver struck him as he pushed a woman in a wheelchair across the street at the intersection. The unidentified woman also died in the collision.
The deadly crash occurred at 7:55 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21st, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
LAPD officers responded to the intersection and spoke with the 35-year-old motorist who stopped following the deadly crash.
The driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck told police he was driving southbound on Foothill Boulevard when the car hit the two pedestrians in the roadway, according to a report by The Patch.
Paul Sanchez suffered major injuries and died at the scene. The woman he was pushing in a wheelchair was transported to a hospital where she later died.
Investigators continue to work on the case to determine fault for the pedestrian accident.
