Leela Bettega, 24, Arrested
UKIAH, California (June 12, 2016) – A wrong-way crash on Highway 101 prompted by an alleged DUI driver sent 63-year-old Paul Shibata to the hospital late Thursday night, according to The Press Democrat.
Shibata, of Willits, was transported to Ukiah Valley Medical Center where he was treated for moderate injuries. He was later released.
As per the article, the collision occurred near Lake Mendocino Drive about 11:15 p.m.
California Highway Patrol said 24-year-old Ukiah resident Leela Louise Bettega was driving a 2007 Toyota south in the northbound lane of Highway 101 where she initially struck a 2007 Chevy driven by Marco Licea Jr., 23, of Ukiah.
Bettega continued south and hit 64-year-old Wayne Shuster, of Ukiah, driving a 2005 Dodge at the time. Her vehicle then crashed head-on into a 2006 Honda driven by Shibata.
CHP added that Bettega was booked on suspicion of drunken-driving causing injury. However, she was freed on a $30,000 bail.
