Bicyclist Killed in Crash on PCH in Seal Beach
SEAL BEACH, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2019) — A bicyclist identified as Paul Smith, 64, was fatally injured in a collision on Pacific Coast Highway at Seal Beach Blvd Friday morning, according to a report by a local news source.
Following the collision, bystanders who were at the scene performed CPR on Smith until paramedics arrived. The injured bicyclist was transported to a local hospital, but he died of his injuries. The driver involved stopped and cooperated with the police investigation into what happened.
Smith was reportedly an church leader at Parkcrest Christian Church, 3936 Woodruff Ave. in Long Beach. Smith was a retired engineer who worked for Bechtel Corp., and was also an avid bicyclist.
