Paula Queiroz-Lopes, Eduardo Goncalves-Lins Fatal Diamond Bar Crash 57 Freeway

Paula Queiroz-Lopes, Eduardo Goncalves-Lins Fatal Diamond Bar Crash 57 Freeway2 Dead, 2 Drives Suspected of DUI in Multi-Vehicle Crash

DIAMOND BAR, California (Oct. 30, 2017) —  Paula Queiroz-Lopes, 24, of Diamond Bar and Eduardo Goncalves-Lins, 28, of Costa Mesa were killed in a suspected DUI collision on the southbound 57 Orange Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner.

Queiroz-Lopes was a passenger in a 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by Goncalves-Lins. The vehicle crashed into the back of a parked tow truck on the shoulder of the freeway early Sunday morning at 3 a.m.

The car came to rest in the No. 3 lane, but was struck by a 2007 Toyota Tacoma and both occupants of the Corolla were ejected into the roadway where they died.

Vincent Delavega, 28, of Santa Ana was driving the Tacoma which also struck an unattended 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck. William Blackburn, 35, of Covina, who owned the Dodge, had pulled over to help the victims of the first crash. The Tacoma overturned and landed on its side.

Police arriving at the scene suspected both Delavega and Goncalves-Lins were driving under the influence of alcohol.

Delavega suffered fractured ribs and bruises to his chest and was taken to a hospital for treatment, but subsequently arrested on DUI charges.

Witnesses may contact the CHP’s Baldwin Park office at (626) 338-1164.

Those of us at Johnson Attorneys Group offer our thoughts and prayers to the families of those who died in this horrible crash.

When a person is killed in a traffic accident, a full investigation will be pursued by law enforcement to find out why this happened and who is at fault.

Indeed, if a reckless motorist has used alcohol or drugs and causes a collision, the victim or their surviving family members will have the right to pursue a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit against the at-fault party.

Drunk drivers may face both criminal and civil actions. A victim or a family who survives them may claim compensation for medical bills, future medical needs, lost wages and pain and suffering.

Every personal injury case is unique and many factors are used to value each case. The losses from your claim include the amount of the medical bills, lost wages, pain, and suffering, etc. The most important factor is your life change resulting from the injury. Typically, the larger the injury and life change, the larger the settlement. We discuss your personal injury claim’s worth during your free consultation. The first thing you should do is contact an attorney. Without the representation of a lawyer, insurance companies might make contact with you directly, and since they are trained to protect their best interests, this could mean a loss of rights on your behalf, especially if you unknowingly sign something that they didn't completely explain to you. The length of a personal injury case depends on many factors including the evaluation and treatment of the injury. The bigger the injury, the longer it takes to treat. Attorney James Johnson helps you be aggressive with the treatment, so the average case normally takes between two and five months. Those who have serious injuries and need surgery may take several months longer. Call for a free consultation 800-208-3538, or complete the form below >
Many victims believe if you don't have health insurance you don't have a case - this NOT true. In fact, those with health insurance usually don't use it since there are so many restrictions and steps to overcome to receive authorization for treatment. Johnson Attorneys Group assists you in finding the best doctors to help. Most of them even wait until a settlement for payment. Call for a free consultation 800-208-3538, or complete the form below >
Handling a personal injury claim by yourself is very difficult. You will deal directly with the insurance adjuster who is often trained to obtain the information they are not entitled to use. This information can negatively impact and de-value your case. Once your case is damaged, it is very difficult to repair it and usually costs you thousands of dollars less in a settlement.
