Elderly Woman Hospitalized After Pedestrian Accident
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Dec. 17, 2018) — An 85-year-old woman was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when she was struck by a truck at Cedar Street and First Avenue.
The crash was reported at 2:39 p.m. at the intersection in the Cortez neighborhood.
The woman was crossing Cedar Street from the north side to the south side at 1st Avenue. Witnesses told authorities that she failed to obey the red traffic signal for pedestrians when she walked into the roadway and was hit by a white 2016 truck.
She was transported by ambulance to a hospital where she is being treated for a skull fracture and brain bleed.
San Diego Police Traffic Division is investigating, but at this time they do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were factors.

Police are reviewing all the evidence and will ultimately determine fault for this crash.
