Major Injury Car Accident on State Route 198 in West Goshen

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (July 1, 2025) — A pedestrian suffered major injuries early Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on westbound Highway 198 (State Route 198) near Road 56 in West Goshen, Tulare County.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) the incident occurred around 6:39 a.m. on July 1st, when CHP received reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the center divider. The CHP report indicated the victim was down in the roadway and that a black Volkswagen Jetta was among the vehicles involved. It remains unclear how many vehicles were at the scene or which one struck the pedestrian.

Emergency responders from Tulare County Fire arrived shortly after and began providing aid. CHP officers from multiple units responded, and the crash was later classified as a major injury traffic collision.

The pedestrian suffered a broken arm and other injuries and was transported to a hospital.

Westbound traffic on SR-198 was temporarily affected while first responders worked to secure the scene and investigate the circumstances of the crash.

The CHP has not yet released the identity of the pedestrian or any potential drivers involved. The investigation is ongoing.
