Van Hits Two Pedestrians Near Southwest Airlines in Terminal One
WESTCHESTER, Calif. (August 31, 2022) — A passenger van struck two pedestrians at LAX in an accident on the lower level near the Terminal 1 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
The vehicle versus pedestrian accident occurred about 9:53 a.m. on August 31st near the Southwest Airlines terminal, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The LAFD stated the van struck two pedestrians and then continued on before hitting a structure. One of the pedestrians declined medical transport, but paramedics took the other adult male pedestrian and the male driver of the van to a regional hospital. At least one of them is listed in fair condition.
It’s unknown what led up to the pedestrian accident at LAX.
Meanwhile, investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department are working on the case.
This is the second major pedestrian accident at LAX this year.
A driver struck and killed a pedestrian in front of United Airlines, Terminal 7 back in February.
Also, a shuttle bus crash in July this year at LAX left nine people injured near the ramps to Sky Way. The bus driver lost control of the vehicle with 23 people aboard and crashed into a pillar. Two people were critically injured in that collision.
