SAN DIEGO, California (March 23, 21017) – An elderly pedestrian was seriously injured after a traffic collision Thursday afternoon in Mira Mesa, according to UT San Diego.
The accident took place in the area of Mira Mesa Boulevard and Westview Parkway about 2:30 p.m.
As per the article, San Diego police said a 75-year-old woman was crossing Mira Mesa Boulevard at Westview Parkway when at the same time a GMC pickup traveling south on Westview started to turn to westbound Mira Mesa.
The pedestrian, who was in a crosswalk, was then struck by the truck. She was transported a trauma center with an open fracture to one ankle.
Her name and condition remained unknown.
Meanwhile, police added that the 20-year-old woman driving the pickup allegedly did not notice the victim in time to stop. She was unharmed in the crash.
Authorities will continue to investigate as it is believed both the motorist and the pedestrian had green lights when the incident occurred.
