Kern, CA (July 3, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol group reported a pedestrian accident that occurred near State Route 178 Saturday evening.

Preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was parked at the Lake Isabella Auxiliary Dam Campground. For an unknown reason, the driver accidentally stepped on the gas while the car was on reverse.

The white Toyota pickup truck accelerated and struck a person inside a tent setup at the area. Officials briefly identified the victim as a 70-year-old woman. Medical personnel responded to the crash site and treated the female party for major injuries. It remained unclear whether paramedics transported the patient to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota appeared unharmed after the incident.

Investigators handling the case continue to work at this time to determine several factors surrounding the pedestrian accident near State Route 178.
