Minor Injury Pedestrian Accident
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Sept. 27, 2023) — A woman became trapped under a car after a pedestrian accident on Foothill Road (SR-192) in the Santa Barbara area.
The collision occurred on State Route 192/Foothill Road around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 26th, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and Noozhawk.
A driver was reportedly exiting a driveway and struck the woman on a private driveway in the 2900 block of Foothill Road, fire officials said.
Paramedics responded and used specially designed airbags to raise the vehicle off the woman who was trapped underneath it.
She sustained minor injuries and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.
Investigators say the driver accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brakes.
The collision remains under investigation.
