Watsonville Man, 54, Arrested After Deadly Hit-and-run Crash
LIVE OAK, Calif. (Nov. 15, 2024) — A man and his dog were both struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Seventh Avenue at Eddy Lane in Live Oak.
The traffic collision occurred around 2:46 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The suspect was traveling southbound on Seventh Avenue when he struck the man in his 30s who was walking a dog in the area.
The man and his dog both suffered major injuries and died on the scene. Meanwhile, the suspect fled and was later located around 7 p.m. the same day.
CHP officials Pedro Martinez Urbano, 54, of Watsonville, was arrested on multiple charges including hit-and-run resulting in a death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence. He was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.
Finally, the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
