Pedestrian Critically Injured in Modesto Store DUI Crash at Oakdale and Sylvan
MODESTO, CA (NOVEMBER 14, 2021) – A pedestrian was critically injured after a DUI crash outside a Modesto store at Oakdale Road and Sylvan Avenue.
Modesto police said a car struck a male pedestrian standing outside the Stop n’ Save Liquors & Groceries store. The vehicle also crashed into a gas pump at the intersection of Oakdale Road and Sylvan Avenue.
DUI Driver Hits Victim, Gas Pump
The man ended up pinned against the front wall as the car overturned into him. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene.
They found the victim who sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel rushed him to the hospital for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded patient and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, the car caught fire and pinned the driver inside.
Officials rescued him and provided him aid for his minor injuries. Police determined that the motorist was under the influence of alcohol at the time. They soon arrested him for DUI.
Authorities forced the store and the area of Oakdale and Sylvan to close following the wreck. The Modesto DUI crash is still under investigation.
