Man, 59, Severely Injured in Bay Park Hit-and-Run on Clairemont Drive
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 17, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash along Clairemont Drive severely injured a pedestrian in the Bay Park neighborhood.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the accident occurred on Saturday morning. Officers reported the collision at about 9:15 a.m.
The incident happened when a 59-year-old man was crossing west to east midblock in the 3000 block of Clairemont Drive in Bay Park. At the same time, a white vehicle was going south.
Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle Near Burgener Boulevard
Police said for an unknown reason, the driver struck the pedestrian near Burgener Boulevard. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon responded to the scene.
Medical personnel found the victim left lying on the ground with severe head trauma as a result of the collision. They then rushed him to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Officials did not disclose the name of the patient and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, the motorist apparently did not stop to render aid to the man and soon fled the area.
Police forced Clairemont Drive to shut down following the Bay Park collision. Authorities are still investigating the suspected hit-and-run crash.
