Pedestrian Hit by Semi-Truck in Crash on I-80 Freeway, Nyack Road, Placer County
PLACER COUNTY, Calif., (Sept. 4, 2026) — A crash involving a pedestrian and semi-truck occurred Friday morning on the Interstate 80 Freeway East at the Nyack Road off-ramp in the Emigrant Gap area of Placer County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The incident, categorized as a major-injury traffic collision, was reported near Lake Putt on Sept. 4th at 11:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just east of Nyack Road.
Emergency Response and Incident Details
Initial reports indicated dense fog conditions, which contributed to the traffic being heavily stalled. Emergency responders, including fire personnel and CHP officers, arrived on the scene to find a semi-truck involved in the collision. The pedestrian involved was reported to be in severe distress, with emergency services noting possible broken wrist injuries among other concerns.
Units from nearby locations, including Baxter and Alta, were called in to assist with traffic management as one lane was blocked, and efforts were made to clear the scene quickly. Five Star Towing services were also notified to assist with vehicle removal.
