Major Injury Pedestrian Accident on Folsom Boulevard

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Jan. 9, 2026) — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning in Sacramento on Folsom Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported on Jan. 9th shortly before 7 a.m. in the 9300 block of Folsom Boulevard, in front of a light rail station in east Sacramento. CHP logs indicate a silver sedan struck a pedestrian, leaving the victim down in the eastbound lanes of traffic.

Fire crews and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, where the roadway was temporarily blocked as first responders rendered aid. The incident was later upgraded to a traffic collision involving major injuries.

Authorities initially received reports that the driver involved may have been leaving the scene. CHP did not immediately confirm whether the incident was being investigated as a hit-and-run or if the driver was later located. One vehicle was followed to a tow yard as part of the investigation, and the car was reportedly held as evidence.

Traffic impacts were significant during the morning commute. Eastbound lanes of Folsom Boulevard were closed for a period of time, with at least one lane later reopened while the investigation continued. CHP issued traffic advisories and urged motorists to use alternate routes.

The condition of the injured pedestrian has not been released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
