Pedestrian Injured in Collision on State Route 52 in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 18, 2026) — A pedestrian suffered major injuries in San Diego after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning on eastbound State Route 52 near Convoy Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported on March 18th shortly after 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of SR-52 just east of Convoy Street.
Initial reports indicated a vehicle versus pedestrian crash involving what was described as a silver Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. Authorities said the pedestrian had apparently run across traffic lanes before the collision occurred.
Responding officers located the victim lying in the center divider of the freeway. Dispatch notes indicated the pedestrian was still breathing when first responders arrived.
The incident was initially reported as a “pedestrian down” call but was later upgraded to a major-injury traffic collision, according to CHP logs.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and requested a tow truck to remove the involved vehicle. Authorities reported that no lanes were blocked for an extended period during the response.
