Pedestrian Struck by Multiple Vehicles on 15 Freeway
RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. (July 12, 2019) — A pedestrian was struck and killed early Friday morning by at least one vehicle on the northbound Interstate 15 Freeway in Rancho Bernardo in San Diego county.
Multiple traffic lanes were blocked for hours due to the crash and a major traffic jam resulted, the CHP said.
The crash was reported about 4 a.m. to the California Highway Patrol.
One of the drivers initially believed they had struck a deer and others reported they struck something near the West Bernardo Drive exit, police said.
Police responding to the scene located a body showing signs of being struck by multiple vehicles.
There were five traffic lanes blocked by police and emergency responders and traffic was diverted to the West Bernardo Road exit.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
