Pedestrian Killed in Car Accident on Highway 41 ID’d as Phonesavanh Luangpraseuth

Fresno County, CA (May 19, 2026) — Phonesavanh Luangpraseuth, 64, of Fresno, died last week in a pedestrian accident on Highway 41 (SR-41), just south of Jensen Avenue in Fresno County.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office, the deadly collision occurred at 1 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Fresno Area station sent police to the scene of the vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on southbound State Route 41 (SR-41), the report said.
Detectives working on the case reported an 83-year-old man was driving a 2017 Hyundai Tucson southbound on SR-41 in the No. 1 lane when the male pedestrian stepped into the roadway from the west shoulder. The pedestrian, identified as Luangpraseuth, apparently walked eastbound into the path of the oncoming Hyundai. It happened so suddenly that the driver of the Hyundai was unable to brake or swerve to avoid hitting the victim, police said.
The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Hyundai stopped and cooperated with the investigation.
This crash remains under investigation by the CHP Fresno Area.
