Pedestrian Killed in Newport Beach at Coast Highway, Newport Coast Drive

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (June 25, 2026) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon at East Coast Highway and Newport Coast Drive in Newport Beach.

UPDATE: Angad Singh Hira, 41, of Kentfield in Marin County, was identified as the man who died in the Newport Beach Pedestrian Accident.

The deadly collision occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24th, near the busy Newport Beach intersection, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

Detectives working on the case determined that the motorist hit the pedestrian just west of the intersection in the westbound traffic lanes on Coast Highway, police said.

A few bystanders rushed in to help the injured man and provided life-saving measures prior to the arrival of police and the Newport Beach Fire Department at the scene.

However, they were unable to save the man’s life, and he died at the scene.

The Major Accident Investigation Team responded and are heading up the investigation.
