Street Race Suspected Before Deadly Crash in Point Loma Heights Area
SAN DIEGO (Dec. 5, 2024) – A fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened early Thursday morning at Nimitz Boulevard and West Point Loma Boulevard in San Diego.
It happened around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 5th in the Point Loma Heights area, according to KGTV News.
San Diego Police believe the driver of a black BMW struck the victim while possibly street racing in the area.
The unidentified pedestrian suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the BMW and two other cars were racing on the roadway before the crash and all three vehicles left without stopping to help the victim.
Detectives located the abandoned and damaged BMW roughly 30 minutes after the crash at Canon and Rosecrans streets.
The case remains under investigation and the San Diego Medical Examiner will release the victim’s name after relatives are notified.
