Deadly Crash on Highway 1 near the Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu
VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (April 29, 2022) — A pedestrian died in a crash on Highway 1 on the Oxnard Plain Friday morning near Wood Road.
The traffic accident happened around 7 a.m., according to reports by the California Highway Patrol and Ventura County Fire Department.
The collision was on the southbound side of Highway 1 near the Wood Road off ramp, police said. The area is in an unincorporated agricultural area just south of Hueneme Road, near Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu.
The CHP dispatch report said one of three vehicles involved was blocking the roadway with major damage. Tow trucks removed the vehicles for evidence after the crash.
The pedestrian suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
The CHP’s Ventura County office is investigating the cause of the crash and liability.
