PASADENA, Calif. (Aug. 2, 2021) — A pedestrian struck by a car on the 210 Freeway was also hit by a train when he landed on railroad tracks at the Lake Avenue Gold Line station.

The man was walking along the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway when he was struck by a car. The impact threw him over a concrete divider and onto nearby railroad tracks at the Lake Avenue Gold Line station. Next, an oncoming train struck and killed him.

The traffic accident happened about 9:05 p.m. on Sunday, August 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. However, authorities did not release his name or age pending notification of his family members.

The driver who struck the victim stopped and remained at the scene. Meanwhile, the collision led to the temporary closure of the carpool and Nos. 1 and 2 lanes due to the traffic accident investigation. Also, police issued a SigAlert on the 210 Freeway at 9:36 p.m. Later, the traffic lanes reopened about 11:20 p.m.

Metro the Gold Line trains would share a track between the Fillmore and Allen stations, but train service returned to normal operations by 11:15 p.m.
