One Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 Near SF Airport
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Dec. 10, 2024) — A driver struck and killed a pedestrian early Tuesday morning on northbound Highway 101 near the San Francisco International Airport.
The fatal pedestrian accident occurred at around 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 10th, near the South Airport Boulevard off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A person wearing a blue shirt and jeans was down in the fast lane and suffered a major head injury and a driver in a black sedan was stopped nearby on the right shoulder, the report said.
Police and fire engines blocked the fast and middle lanes of the highway and one person was confirmed dead at the scene.
Authorities issued a SigAlert due to all lanes blocked, but traffic lanes reopened around 7:20 a.m., according to the CHP.
The case remains under investigation.
