Deadly Pedestrian Accident on I-405 Freeway on Memorial Day

WESTMINSTER, Calif. (May 26, 2026) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on Memorial Day on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway, just north of Westminster Boulevard.

The crash occurred around 8:43 p.m. on Monday, May 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch report.

A driver in a white Toyota Prius told investigators that the pedestrian jumped in front of their vehicle, but the circumstances remain under investigation.

Authorities searched for the pedestrian and located the person suffering major injuries on the right shoulder roughly 15 minutes later, but sadly the person later died from their injuries.
