Muhammad Akbar Struck by Vehicle in Fatal Crash on Shaw Avenue

FRESNO, Calif. (Jan. 27, 2025) — Muhammad Akbar, 51, of Fresno, died in a pedestrian accident early Monday morning on Shaw Avenue at First Street in northeast Fresno.

The deadly crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on Monday, January 27th at the Fresno intersection, according to the Fresno Police Department.

A driver struck the man as he was walking in a crosswalk on Shaw Avenue, the report said.

Paramedics responded and rushed him to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries the same day, the report said.

The driver stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner office identified the victim as Muhammad Akbar.
