Crossing Guard, Teenager Hurt in Van Nuys Car Accident

 Two Pedestrians Hit by Vehicle Vanowen Street in Van Nuys VAN NUYS, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2019) – A driver struck and injured both a crossing guard and a teenage pedestrian Monday morning in the Valley Glen area in Valley Glen near Van Nuys.

UPDATE: Delia Huerta, 58, was identified as the crossing guard. She died at the hospital about 10 hours later, the Los Angeles County Coroner reports.

Police summoned paramedics to the scene of the crash in the 13400 block of West Vanowen Street. The collision was reported at 7:20 a.m.

The teenager and a woman working as a crossing guard were both transported to the hospital where Huerta died, but the girl was treated for non-life threatening injuries, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

Police questioned the motorist involved and will determine liability.
