Cynthia Juanita Vargas, 46, of Sacramento, Killed in Motorcycle Accident
ROSEVILLE, Calif. (April 15, 2022) — Pedro Sanchez Jackson-Garibay, 37 of Sacramento, was arrested Friday roughly a week after a solo-motorcycle crash that killed Cynthia Vargas.
Police charged the Sacramento man with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and a felony Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Roseville police said.
Police say the man was driving a motorcycle that crashed about 2 a.m. on April 7th at Sunrise Avenue and Francis Drive in Roseville, according to an April 8 police report.
Investigators are piecing together what happened. So far it’s unknown if the woman who died was riding on the bike with Jackson-Gariby.
Bystanders performed CPR on the woman, but sadly arriving paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, according to the Roseville Police Department.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim as Cynthia Juanita Vargas, 46, of Sacramento.
It’s unknown at this time what the connection was between the woman and Jackson-Garibay at the time of the collision.
Pedro Jackson-Garibay is in Roseville police custody at the hospital due to his injuries from the motorcycle crash. Authorities will book him into the South Placer County Jail after his release from the hospital.
The Roseville Police Department is still investigating the collision.
