Passenger Killed, Driver Hurt in Collision Near Mouth of the Canyon
Kern County, CA (June 14, 2022) – Peggy Agaplou, a 59-year-old woman, suffered injuries following a car accident that occurred on Highway 178.
The ABC News reported Agaplou was behind the wheel of a 2010 Ford heading west on SR-178. When the motorist approached the area near the Mouth of the Canyon, an eastbound 2021 Tesla crossed over and veered into its path. Agaplou attempted to swerve to avoid collision but the cars ended up crashing head-on into each other.
Our sources indicated the catastrophic incident took place on June 13 around 1 p.m.
Deadly Car Accident on Highway 178 in Kern County
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found a passenger in the Ford unconscious. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but they sadly succumbed to their injuries and died.
Authorities added the driver of the Ford, Peggy Agaplou, sustained injuries in the crash. An ambulance transported the woman to Kern Medical Center for further treatment and evaluation.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Tesla, 34-year-old Donna Smith, appeared unharmed after the incident.
Detectives stayed at the scene the whole afternoon. They continue to investigate exactly how and why the deadly accident happened on Highway 178 in Kern County.
