Pedestrian Killed on US Highway 101
CLOVERDALE, Calif. (July 31, 2018) — Peggy Hendrix, 55, of Santa Rosa, has been identified as the pedestrian who died in a car accident Sunday night on U.S. Highway 101, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner.
About 11:30 p.m. on July 29, the woman reportedly walked from the center divider crossing east to west through the southbound lanes near Cloverdale Boulevard. She was struck by an oncoming 1995 BMW 525i at speeds of above 65 mph. She died at the scene upon impact.
The driver of the BMW was listed as Christopher Aceves, 21, of Ukiah. There were three passengers in the vehicle, but none suffered injuries in the crash.
After searching the area police did not find a vehicle belonging to the woman. It’s unknown why she was in the roadway.
Traffic Accident Investigation
At this time, it’s unknown why Peggy Hendrix was on the highway. A full investigation is underway to determine what led to this crash and liability.
