1 Killed, 1 Severely Injured in Penngrove Pedestrian Crash at Hatchery and Old Redwood
PENNGROVE, CA (October 9, 2022) – A crash killed a pedestrian and severely injured another at Hatchery Road and Old Redwood Highway in Penngrove.
According to the NBC Bay Area and KRON 4 News, the tragic accident took place on Sunday evening. Officers reported the collision at about 7:56 p.m.
The incident happened when a Volvo was going north on Old Redwood Highway, approaching Hatchery Road, in Sonoma County.
At the same time, a male pedestrian and a woman were walking from a parking lot of an establishment across the Penngrove street. For an unknown reason, the car struck the victims.
Car Hits Man and Woman
The California Highway Patrol said the two were crossing Hatchery at Old Redwood prior to the crash. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and soon pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The female patient sustained severe injuries as a result of the accident. Medical personnel then rushed her to a hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP added that the driver of the Volvo stopped and stayed at the site following the incident.
Officers forced the area of Hatchery and Old Redwood to shut down for a time after the collision. The cause of the Penngrove pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
