Bicyclist, 70, Seriously Injured in Petaluma Hit-and-Run on Ely Road
PETALUMA (January 3, 2020) – An elderly bicyclist was seriously injured after an alleged hit-and-run collision along Ely Road Thursday night.
According to an article published by The Press Democrat, officers received a call about the accident on January 2 at around 8:37 p.m. north of Corona Road.
California Highway Patrol said a 70-year-old Petaluma man was riding a bicycle along the right shoulder of Ely Road when a vehicle struck him.
Paramedics responded to the scene and found the cyclist left suffering from major but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

Medical personnel immediately transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. His name and condition at this time were not available.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the driver involved did not stop to render aid and fled the area. Officers found a gray side mirror and a piece of a grille at the site following the wreck.
Officials described the suspect car as a late-model Audi Q5 SUV or similar vehicle. Authorities are gathering more information and evidence to locate the motorist.
