Man, 34, Injured in Petaluma Car Accident at 6th and D Streets
PETALUMA (August 11, 2018) – A motorist was injured after an alleged DUI hit-and-run crash in the area of 6th and D streets on Wednesday night, according to The Press Democrat and Petaluma Patch.
The accident took place shortly after 9:50 p.m.
As per the reports, police said 18-year-old Anessa Sablan was driving a black 2000 Volkswagen Jetta when she allegedly ran a red light on 6th Street and broadsided the passenger side of a Subaru.
The Subaru, which was traveling west on D Street at the time, overturned onto its roof as a result of the collision.
Suspected DUI Hit-and-Run Driver ID’d as Anessa Sablan, 18
Fire department officials along with the paramedics rescued the driver, a 34-year-old Petaluma man, from the wreckage and treated him at the scene for complaint of pain. The name of the victim was not disclosed.
Meanwhile, Sablan did not stop to render aid and fled. The Petaluma woman was arrested early Thursday near Grant Elementary School and then booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and a DUI causing injury. The suspect registered a 0.08 blood alcohol content, Cox said.
The intersection was forced to shut down for about an hour after the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

In this case, it is evident that Ms. Anessa Sablan will be held fully responsible for causing the collision that injured the other motorist involved. The suspect is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol which has corresponding criminal penalties as it is considered as a serious wrongdoing throughout the state.
Aside from DUI, the woman also ran a red light and fled the scene after hitting another car. These factors leave the 34-year-old man a right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault individual. The claim will include a compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs and lost wages.
