2 Killed La Jolla Car Crash Torrey Pines Road, Girard Ave
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 23, 2020) — Peter John Meno, 26, faces two counts each of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter after his two passengers died in a solo-vehicle crash Sunday in La Jolla.
UPDATED: The two men who died were Jaden Rowley, 22, of Oceanside, and Matthew Singleton Cate Jr., 19, of Vista. The victims were riding in a Nissan Altima driven by Peter Meno.
Meno was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding when he crashed into a palm tree at a La Jolla intersection.
The fatal collision was reported at 3:15 a.m. as Meno made a left turn from Torrey Pines Road onto Girard Avenue, according to the San Diego Union Tribune. The driver lost control and crashed into the palm tree. Rowley was seated in the front of the car and Cate was in the backseat. Both died at the scene of the crash.
Meanwhile, Meno, 26, whose injuries were treated at a hospital, is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The San Diego Medical Examiner released the victim’s names on Nov. 24th.
